Average Palate expander Time Frame

I took my daughter to two different orthodontists and she needs a palate expander. One Dr, said it will have to stay in for 3-4 months and the other said it needs to stay in for 6+ months. Who do I believe?

Answer: Expander usually takes 6 months

everycase is different, but on a average case it would take about 6 months, sometimes less and sometimes more.

It will depend on how much they need to expand, i would suggest that you do the orthodontist that says 6 months. As most of us will give you a longer time period than a shorter time period and then the patient gets upset when we tell them 3  months and then have to do it longer.

Also it will depend on how well your daughter co-operate with the appliance.

Good Luck
