    Chossing to get clear brackets is a good way to hide the embarssment of having braces. Patients who generally  choose to get clear brackets are generally older patients ranging from teenagers to adults. There are positive and negative aspects  to having clear braces. The positive aspect of having c lear braces is that they do help hide having braces tremendously. The negative aspect of clear braces is that over time the clear  elastic rubber bands that fit around the clear bracket to hold the wire in place  does  have a tendency to develop a yellowish stain over time. The only ways to avoid the elastics from staning yellow is to be a very good brusher and brush more times a day, and also avoid  food and drinks that have darker colors for example, pizza sauce,teas or coke products. Keep in mind the clear brackets themselves do not stain yellow it is the elastic ties that fit around the brackets, these elastic ties are changed to new ones every time you see your orthodonist for an adjustment which is usually every 4-5 weeks.
