Frenectomy grew back
Hello. I had a labial frenectomy performed in late 2008 due to a gap in front teeth at request of my orthodontist before I started invisalign. I followed through with recommendations. Now my frenum is present slightly above my front teeth again and has formed a small bump. The part that connects the lip to gums seems to be re-appearing as well. I spoke with my ortho who said it will not affect my invisalign outcome as I have a lingual wire that will prevent the gap from re-opening and will not shift my teeth. Is this true? Why would the frenum be growing back after a labial frenectomy...did not realize that was possible.
Answer: Your orthodontist is correct

The orthodontist is correct as far as your teeth having a space. The lingual bar will prevent the teeth from opening up.
As far as the frenum goes, i would suggest you find a oral surgeon and get a consultation and see what is the cause of it coming back.
Keep up the good work, and good luck in having the perfect smile
