Is it safe to wait till i can see a dentist

i havnt been to the dentist in 5 years so i have a lot of problems but one that im very worried about is a possibility of a tooth abscess. the gums underneath my lower left molars are painful when i put pressure on then its not unbearable pain and there are two small white sores next to each other, the left side of my face is slightly swollen but not noticeable and i started feeling ill today i noticed the pain about three or four days ago so i went to my regular doctor today and her gave me keflex my question is is it safe for me to take the antibiotic until i can see a dentist cause i dont have insurance and i cant get any for at least another week or is it serious

Answer: Is it safe to wait

Definitely start taking the antibiotic immediately.  You need to see a dentist immediately.  While the toothache will subside for a short time with the antibiotics, the source of the infection is still in your mouth, which is close to the brain.  The mouth is a direct source to your blood stream.  This means that the constant infection in your mouth is circulating throughout your blood. These high bacteria accounts is not good for your mouth or the rest of your body.  The teeth (source of infection) need to be treated or removed so your mouth and body can begin to heal.  It's not advisable to wait, especially when there is infection present.
