Methods to treat crowding
My daughter is almost 12 and has been wearing braces now for 3 years. When she first started in braces her baby eye teeth were pulled out by our dentist because they were protruding on the buccal side on top of her other teeth. At that time she had her 8 front secondary teeth only and a lot of crowding visible on her xray. Braces were put on which she has worn the past 3 years with no other special treatment. No x-rays were taken on her mouth until this last visit. The xray shows that her upper eye teeth are there but there is not enough space for them to erupt, especially the left one. The x ray also shows that her left upper eye tooth is growing toward the root of the left central and left central incisor. Is there a standard treatment method to fix this problem? Should something have been done sooner? I want to be sure her treatment is correct and that her roots are not damaged, especially above her front teeth. Thanks! Thanks!
Answer: it can be corrected

It can be corrected by usually exposing the canine tooth and put a bracket (braces) and will pull it down slowly. It is common that we have to expose some teeth that do not erupt with other teeth.
It is not a painful as she will be numbed up. The orthodontist will create space so all the teeth are corrected. It may take a bit longer than a normal treatment.
The only way the root can be damage, is by moving the tooth too fast and then it can get root absorption. Most orthodontist will not do this.
Good Luck, with your daughter and tell her this is all worth it as she will have the perfect smile
