Answer: Tooth replacement

There are many different options to replacing teeth, depending on the condition of the remaining teeth as well as the bone condition.  You should visit a general dentist for a consultation and full series of radiographs.  This is the first step to treatment, known as the planning phase.  The dentist will address the periodontal condition as well as the remaining teeth.  The options to replace a tooth or teeth are:

Fixed bridge

Dental Implant

Partial denture

Full denture

Dental Implants are the best option, however they are the most costly.  A single dental implant can range in price from $3500 to $5000.  Many times insurance does not cover dental implants.  A fixed bridge is also a great option for replacing a missing tooth or teeth, however there are restrictions in the span they can cover and you must have adjacent teeth to support the bridge.Bridges are ideal for patients that are in need of restorations on the surronding teeth next to the space where the tooth is missing.  THey are usually porcelain fused to metal or all porcelain depending on where in the mouth they will be utilized.  Bridges usually cost approximately $1000 per unit.   A partial denture is removable, but economical for replacing many teeth within an arch.  These range in price from $1500 to $2500 and will include all the missing teeth on the arch on a single prosthesis.  Full dentures are a solution when a patient is edentulous.  Implants can be placed in order to support a denture as well.

Before deciding which option is best for your dental health needs and will resotre you to full function, a dentist must have an overall view of your oral health and expectations.  You may consider seeking out a consultation from more than one provider prior to making any dental and financial decisions.
