Post-extraction muscle discomfort

Hi, I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth out about 5 years ago. Weeks after the surgery, I began to notice slight tension in the muscles around the top of my jaw close to my ear, and in and around my temple. It feels as it those muscles are more easily engorged with blood. This has led to dull headaches and sore facial muscles. My question is this: can oral surgery, specifically wisdom tooth extraction lead to a shift of muscles or blood vessels around the jaw that could cause increased blood flow or muscle tension? Can it make any changes to your facial muscles at all? Thanks!

Answer: sounds like you have TMJ (templor mandible joint)

It sounds like you have TMJ, where there is discomfort or clicking sound in the area of your ear and upper jaw. Make a appointment with your dentist and they will be able to tell what is your problem. Do not wait too long as it can get worse for you. If you have TMJ, it can be corrected with a appliance that you wear at night.

Good Luck
