Removing Molar - Invisalign - Overcrowding

I have had a root canal and a crown put on one of my back bottom molars years ago. Now my dentist is saying i\'ll have to go to a specialist to see if they can save it as it has gone bad. He said I could also just go to the oral surgeon and just have them remove it and he\'ll put an implant in. Here\'s the dilemma: obviously that\'s going to be quite costly. I already have a LOT of overcrowding on my bottom row of teeth. When I went to the orthodontist last year she said she\'d have to remove two teeth on the bottom to do invisalign. I know molars are important, but is there a chance I can just remove the one molar, and then the one \"regular\" tooth on the other side and get the invisalign since I wanted that anyway?

If the orthodontist is recommeding to remove some teeth it normally is not molars. If yo have the one molar on one side removed it is best to remove the same tooth on the other side. The reason is because it can throw off your bite and your occulsion. If you have a molar and then a anterior or font tooth or different tooth other then the same molar on the other side, again you will have an uneven bite. That is why they recommend removing the same teeth if needed to keep your bite aligned. The implant is the best option if needed because you want to keep the molars if possible. The other option is if you did not have your wisdom teeth removed and they are in they could move that tooth forward compensating for the missing molar if need be.
