braces update(: So, I got my braces on almost 8 months ago. The time flew by! As much as I hate having them, I know I will have a pretty smile when it comes time for me to get them off! (: As far as taking care of them, its easy. I brush them after each meal, when i wake up in the morning, and when I go to bed. I floss them every night, so im pretty sure Im taking great care of them. As you know, I used to have terrible teeth. They were crooked, overlapping, and my canines were high. They have been brought into place and they are beginning to look awesome! My gaps from where I had my teeth pulled are now closed almost completely. Oh, also.. When i first got my braces on, I had no colors on them, at my 2nd appointment I got green and pink, then purple and black ( Which I still currently have) And at my last appointment, i was going to get orange and black for halloween but we had to reschedual. So enjoy the video. First I'd like you to notice that our patient has a cheek retractor in her mouth. The cheek retractor is to make sure that the cheeks stay away from the teeth giving us a good visual and making sure that saliva doesn't contaminate the surface. Here we are placing a special solution on our patients teeth, which helps to lightly roughen the tooth surface. This makes sure that the glue can penetrate the surface of the tooth and braces stay on nice and hard. After 20-30 seconds, we makes sure to wash away all the solution. Once the surface of the teeth are dry, we can apply a special conditioner which helps the glue stick to the teeth. Next I apply the braces one by one. The braces already have the glue on them so it's very important to remove any excess glue. Once the brace is in the perfect position it's important to use a special light which hardens the glue.
