Video 1- Pre Jaw surgery Hello all who are watching! I will hopefully be having jaw surgery in June, i will have a Lefort 1 Osteotomy to correct my jaw. Currently my back teeth are the only teeth that make contact. I wanted to add my videos to the mix for those who are also thinking about having jaw surgery. This surgery will correct my open bite, over bite, and cross bite. The orthodontist wants me in braces for one year, then have the jaw surgery, and continued wear of braces for up to one more year. Open Bite Causing Eating and Speech problems? Makeover of a young man with Open Bite. Occasionally, we see people who cannot seem to close their mouth. Many of these people have a problem called Apertognathia, or "Open Bite". This is caused by excessive growth of the back part of the upper jaw, resulting in the molars being positioned lower than the front teeth. When the mouth attempts to close, the molars are the first to contact, preventing the front teeth from coming together. This causes a functional problem in that the incisors are not able to do their job of cutting food. The inability to close the mouth also makes pronunciation of certain words impossible. Decidi hacer el video porque al igual q muchos de ud vi los videos y lei los blog sobre este tipo de cirujia. Y eso me dio mucho valor para decidir tener la cirujia. Yo tenia un Overbite ( mi madibula superior estaba muy delante de mi mandibula inferior) y cuando sonreia mostraba mucho mis encias. Para esto el cirujano tubo q romper mi mandibula superior cortar un pedaso de hueso y subir mi madibula superior como 6 mm. En mi caso el cirujano no tubo q hacer nada con mi mandibula inferior porque esta estaba en la posicion correcta. Si tienen alguna pregunta haganme saber sere muy feliz de responder. Donnelly's BSSO Orthognathic Surgery: 2 Month Post Lower Jaw Surgery Update This is my update for exactly two months following my orthognathic lower jaw surgery to fix an overbite. Before the surgery, I would have difficulty chewing many kinds of meets and hard foods. I also was very self-conscious of my looks, particular my jaw and teeth. To this day, I wonder if I would have gone to college in my 20s had I not been so fearful of my looks. I often used my lacking looks as an excuse to not go to college because I feared I would not be able to make friends and would suffer constant rejection from woman and my peers in general. After two months of healing, I am back to 100% physical activity and diet. Just when I'm getting back into the swing of things, tomorrow I go in for my septoplasty nose surgery. Looks like I will be getting more bed rest once again. This time I won't have to worry to much about having to go on a restrictive diet which made me feel weak. I do not intend to get any more surgeries I am happy with my lower jaw surgery, and I am sure I will be happy with my nose surgery and corrected deviated septum and removal of my excessive bump on my nose, most likely cause when I broke my nose as a young child and my parents never bothered to have it checked out. I wonder if this had any thing to do with the constant nose bleeds I endured up onto my late teens? Embarrassing nose bleeds also plagued me as a teenager. Views: 466 |
