Are my invisalign working?

Hello everyone! Well I just started my first tray of Invisalign yesturday! And well at the dentist, I felt SLIGHT pressure and well at night there was no feeling at all (no pressure, no pain but slight discomfort) and well they feel so lose! There is this white rubber thing you are supposed to bite and well I did bite it where the dentist told me to but my teeth hurt a lot after biting the "chewie" thing. And sometimes I suck the invisalign back to make it tighter but it doesn't work. But when I take them out to eat, they really hurt! My teeth feel so painful taking them out but putting them in do not hurt at all. And another question I have is that my invisalign have 16 buttons! AND 2 in the front teeth and all along the top row and a couple on the bottom! As I keep getting new trays will there be less buttons because they look EXTREMELY obvious! :( and I regret it now because it looks much weirder than if I actually got the metal braces. Please help me by answering all my questions, It would be amazing if you could! Thanks in advance! :)

Answer: its normal!

By

First off congratulations on chosing the ever so popular invisalign. You just started so hang in there. It is normal for the first tray to not hurt . They start you off slightly and make minor adjustments to begin with. As you change trays you will notice each one will become more tight and harder to get in and out. Your teeth will be uncomfortable when placing and removing the trays. When you have them in there is a consent pressure on them which you get used to. Then when you remove them its a different type of pressure causing you to feel sore when biting into things and eating. This should go away after being in treatment a little bit longer. The white chewy thing they have you is supposed to help you seat your aligner. If you are unable to get it seated all the way that is when you are supposed to bite on it. This is not something you should constantly bite on though! Now for the white "buttons."These are called attachments. Every case is different and some people need more like in your case. These are placed to help the trays stay in your mouth and also are placed on the teeth that need the most adjusting done. It helps move the teeth to get them straight. Without them you would basically just have clear retainers in your mouth that are keeping your teeth as they are now. So there is a purpose to them. As you move through trays they may remove some. After certain adjustments are made they are no longer needed. So hang in there and keep in mind they will come off eventually!Sometimes once you hit the middle to end of treatment the trays do not require you to have the attachments on and thw tray works alone in making your adjustments to your teeth. After your completed with invisalign make sure you wear a retainer they make for you every single night! Otherwise all this process and time out into making your smile perfect will be for nothing.
