About

Dr. Glen Smith has been serving the local community since 1992.

He was born and raised in California, but right after high school, he left to work on his undergraduate education at Columbia University in the City of New York. It was there that he picked up a top-notch education from the classroom, the city, and the athletic fields. He played four years of Division One Ivy League Football, and was glad that at least one school had an opening for a running back without much speed. From New York he went to Atlanta, Georgia to attend Emory University Dental School. The education was great, but the heat and humidity convinced him that it was time to look for some other area to settle down, and what better way than in the United States Army. During those years he practiced first as a general dentist, became an expert in forensic dentistry, completed an orthodontic residency, received a Master of Science Degree from the University of Louisville, and finished his military career as a Lieutenant Colonel at Ft. Lewis, Washington.

After 13 years at seven different Army postings it was time to set down some roots. He chose the Boise area because of the beauty of Idaho and its people.

Dr. Smith’s service to others outside of his orthodontic practice includes his involvement with family and friends, church, the dental profession and the law enforcement community. He has served as Idaho’s representative on the Board of Directors of the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists. He uses his forensic dental expertise in his position as a deputy coroner in Ada County Coroner’s Office, works with the Idaho State Police in their Missing Person Clearinghouse project, was elected to the Board of Governors of the American Society of Forensic Odontology, is a member of the National Disaster Medical Service (he helped identify victims in Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina), and is a dental case reviewer for the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Dr. Smith is forever grateful for the opportunity to live in and serve this community, and is especially thankful to the individuals and families that have placed their trust in his care for them as their Doctor.
