appointment scheduling

Since the age of six I've been pressured to have braces and now at 40 I 'gave in'. Was sent to an orthodontist who did not care much about my moving teeth (I grind them a lot) but sent me to a speech pathologist and asked me to come back when my tongue-thrust is corrected. It took well over a year, I could see positive developments even during that time. Then he put on my upper braces, two brackets immediately fell off, from my two most critically twisted teeth, as I left his office but since the wire was tight and at that time I did not even know what and how I should feel I let it be. Then went back for the first adjustment when he scolded me for taking the brackets off(?), he was in my mouth so I could not reply and then the assistant finished so I had not chance to talk with him.

Then came the second adjustment when he put on a very thick wire but on one side the wire extended only till half of the bracket. On the third appointment a month later he was to put up my bottom braces but due to a scheduling conflict he could not and I was told to come back a month later without him even looking at my teeth, wire, changing elastics etc. I think he is a great dentist but I also feel as if I were let down, even though I do what I'm told, always in time etc. Or is it unfair of me to think like that? And is it normal that a dentist does not have time for appointment for over a month for even just to take a look at the progress of my teeth? Is eight weeks for an appointment normal? I fear that all these seemingly small issues are delaying progress. What do you think? And if yes, what can I as a patient do about it? Thank you for your reply in advance.
