Braces needed or not?
hello i have a really big gap in my 2 front teeth and they spcae out occasionally i can put my tounge through it now :( i hate it . but the orthodontist says i dont need breaces yet i have spaces all over my mouth and i know i have an overbite he says as i get older my teeth will come back to place is this true?

I understand that you have a large space and that you really may not like the look and feel of spaces as a teenager. Many Orthodontists will wait until a patients second molars (these are also refered to as 12 year old molars) have grown in. If a patient has braces placed when these are not yet in they may have some correction to the current teeth and some spaces may close. The fact remains that one will need braces connecting to sedcond molars when they appear. This can take longer than expected as not everyone grows them at the defined age of 12. Waiting for braces until the Dr. suggests will keep you within his/her planned treatment estimation time. Believe me, as cool as braces can be, no one likes to have them for extra time. Smile a lot!
