Braces process being terminated

Hi, Do I need to pay the rest of what I owe, which is about $900-$1000, if my braces process is being terminated because the roots of my front two teeth are decaying? My orthodontist only found out that my roots from my front two teeth are decaying because I told him my front right tooth seemed pushed forward. So he decided to make x-rays. Right away after seeing the x-rays he told me I was getting my braces off. (This is after two years after having braces. The same day, before I was told I was getting my braces off, I was told we would have to start all over again because the last tooth/molar on my left side was not aligned at all with my bite. Also, my front right tooth is slightly pushed forward, my middle line of my front teeth is way off from my nose and bottom teeth, and I can go on and on). I always paid on time (over a hundred dollars a month) and NEVER missed a payment, but to me it doesn't seem fair to pay for what I'm not getting. Please help me. It's a lot of money to just throw away.
