how to get relief from painful dental braces
my daughter got top braces yesterday. she is very sore today and i'd like to get her some relief. tylenol isn't helping. any suggestions? and also anything we can do in advance when the bottoms are put in in december?

Answer: Rinse out mouth with warm water and perioxide

It is very common when getting the braces on for the first time, there will be some soreness in the mouth and teeth. I would reccomend rinsing out her mouth with warm water and peroxide or salt. It may burn as she may have some blisters sores inside her cheeks. You should have gotten some wax with her kit(tools to clean teeth). She should use them on the bracket that is giving her sores in the mouth. Just take a very small amount and roll into a ball and place right over the bracket. Her teeth may be sore also, due to the wire moving certain teeth into the right alignment. All this will subside within a few days. Make sure she cleans her teeth and braces at least twice a day. When she gets her bottom braces on, it will be alot easier as she knows what to expect. Good Luck
