If you do not floss at least 3 times a week you are putting yourself at risk for getting cavities in between your teeth. The only way to remove bacteria and food in between your teeth is to floss. We know its hard to remember to floss everyday and having braces makes flossing take double the time. Taking care of your teeth now will save you a lifetime of problems later on. If your investing 6 years of braces you should invest 10 mins to floss your teeth a day as well. If your gums are puffy and swollen this is a sign that you are not properly taking care of your teeth and gums. The reason they may ne puffy is die to lack of again flossing or brushing. The more you floss and brush your teeth as well as your gums the healthier your gums will be. They should be firm and not look like bubbles. If you have not taken care of your gums and teeth your find may bleed when brushing and flossing. Keep in mind this will stop the more you do it because your gums will become healthy again. The onyl reason you may get white spots now and after braces is from.poor oral hygeine. If you notice them already ask your orthodontist if they have mi paste. This is a special paste you paint on your teeth at night to help. Sometimes it is reversed. Just remember , why stay in braces to get straight teeth if you dont take care of them now. You only get one set for the rest of your life. You wouldn't want straight teeth but then have to deal with getting a lot of cavities or having gum problems in the future. Brush and floss the teeth you want to keep;)
