Orthodontic treatment: front teeth fanning out forward to resolve crowding?
I\'ve had my traditional fixed upper brace on for 2.5 months & got the lower brace on last week. It looks clear to me that the orthodontist is jetting my lower teeth (tilting them) forward to bring the lower front teeth closer to meeting behind the upper front teeth, which now also protrude / fan out forwards, unlike before. I think he has done this to relieve the crowding and undo rotating of the canines, but my overjet and teeth fanning forwards do not feel right and my overbite has not improved. I went to see him today and he said the lower teeth are not tilting / ‘tipping’ forwards, but that he is \'slightly pushing\' them via ‘BODILY’ tooth movement, which he says will not affect the lower jaw. (to me it feels as though the lower teeth tilt forward and clash behind the top front teeth, pushing the lower jaw back). I feel like he plans for the lower front teeth to protrude like horse teeth to make it look as though the crowding is gone. But this is creating a greater overbite and makes my lower jaw set itself further back. Is this possible? My small lower jaw is what I really wanted to correct, maybe he wasn\'t clear on this as I worry that the opposite may occur. Or, is this a normal part of the beginning of tooth repositioning? He is fanning the teeth out forwards on the upper/lower arch to create space for the crowding & it doesn’t look too great. He said that with elastics later on, the bite will correct..so my second question is.. will the elastics also stop the front teeth fanning/protruding? Should I find a more experienced ortho to correct my teeth?
