Although not everyone is a candidate for braces, there should be an explanation or alternative such as Invisalign that would be an option for you.  It is advisable to have the opinion of more than one orthodontist as well. The Orthodontist may be referring to the bone level or root absorption, or both.   In either case, it's best to have a full series of radiographs as well as a panoramic X-ray and full periodontal assessment before determining the real issue. If in fact, the roots are too weak, you will need to seek treatment in order to prevent additional damage and maintain your dentition for life.  You may also be a better candidate for Invisalign.  The use of the clear plastic aligners is very predictable, thus creating less trauma to the roots and bone during treatment.  Do not get discouraged without seeking another opinion. There are many restorative options that will give you the result and smile you desire.
