Scuba Diving And Braces
Hi. I have had dental braces on for about four months now on my upper and lower jaw and I wanted to take a scuba diving course this summer. I wanted to know if this would cause any problems. Will I need to take any extra precautions like get any equipment or should I just not do it? Is there any risk of popping brackets, etc? Thanks.

Because your regulator sits on your lower teeth and is inside your mouth, you will not have a problem with the seal. Your lips may feel slightly fatigued after because they are being pushed out slightly by the braces and mouth piece but it wont cause a problem. The metal might become a little chillier than your used to if your diving colder water. Over all, if you love the water .... don't let your braces keep you from it!
