I see that you went and got a orthodontic consultation and your daughter is need of braces. You are concerned that she is too young. There is really no set age to start orthodontic treatment, every patient is different. But I notice that the orthodontist stated that your daughter has a mouth of a 12 year old, therefore I presume that she has almost all of her adult teeth erupted.  That is probably why the orthodontist feels that they can start her treatment now.  This is usually the best age to start as it is easy for us to align all the teeth, it is very easy to move the teeth at this age. The older we are, the harder it is to move teeth.(longer treatment time)  When a patient is in puberty stage, it is usually a easier to soften the gum tissues inorder to move the teeth. The gum tissues gets firm up after the braces are removed usually takes about a year. That is why when the braces are removed the patient MUST wear the retainers full time for the first year. Otherwise the teeth will shift back to the original position.  Once the braces are removed and she wears her retainers like she is suppose to do, there should be no problems as she gets older of her teeth shifting back.   Good Luck
