U/L braces
My step sons who is 11 years old primary dentist refferd him to an orthodontist because my step son has crowding and his jaw is not large enough for all of his teeth to come in. He has an adult tooth in half way but his dentist said it will not fully come all the way up due to his jaw being to small. His back teeth are pushing all of his teeth forward causing them to go croocked.. The primay dentist said it is nesisary for him to have the U/L braces put on... Now the orthodontist said my step son does need them to make his jaw larger so his teeth are able to come in correctly... Step son has mcna dental through healthy kids.. Now the orthodontist is charging over $5000 dollars and says mcna will not pay no more then 25% of the cost which brings it down to a little over $4000 out of pocket broke down into monthly payments around $175 and we must have it paid in full in 2 years.. Step son has 2 where them for 2 years.. Why will mcna dental not say that is not medically nessisary.. Mcna says it is cosmetic.. Can I get them to approve it and pay for the cost? Or what else can I do.. Thank u

Some offices do not take mcna as an actual insurance provider. In most cases they will still accept it but have to still charge you the ucr fees of the office for the braces. The 25% is a percentage agreed apon within the office to help out with the cost of the coverage because mcna most likely really does not cover any of the orthodontic treatment. It is common for mcna to not have orthodontic treatment coverage. if possible if you are able to place him on a different insurnace plan through your employer that may be the best bet on getting more coverage. The orthodontic office may also offer another discount if you express you may not be able to make those monthly payments. They may take more off if they have any promotions going on allowing your monthly payments to be decreased. If you are able to as well remember the more you put down at the initial down payment will decrease those monthly payments as well. Talk to the office to see if there are any other options. Most will try to accomodate you to help you out and work with you to allow your step son to start the treatment.
