What is right for me
I am 13 years old and I have had this problem since I was a baby with sucking my thump. My mom keeps telling me that I may need my mouth wired shout. I know I need braces but what can I do if I can\'t stop sucking my thumb. I only suck my thumb when I am bored, watching tv, and sleeping. I do not suck my thumb in school and in public. What can work on my teeth if I have a 2 inch gap, my palette struched, and buck teeth.

Since you are older you do know better. A habit is a habit and any habit is hard to break. Good thing there are appliances to help you stop. If you can not help it and your thumb just some how finds its place by your mouth;) There is something to help you break your habit. I would advise you to to see either your normal dentist or an orthodontist.There are appliances to help you stop sucking your thumb. One way which you may not like is to place a thumb habit applianc in your mouth which you will not be able to remove. It has has a cage type feature behind your upper front teeth that does not allow your thumb to rest where it used to. This is in hopes that you learn to break your habit. Chances are if you are still sucking your thumb and realize you are doing so you may not stop on your own and having something put in your mouth may be successful.After they try to break you of you habit you most likely need braces as you described your teeth. You will need top and bottom. The orthodontist will let you know how long you need to be in braces and what all needs to be done.
