What should I expect as far as bands on my braces, and also is my cleaning regimen good enough?

I have had my braces for about 9 months, and will need them for 1 1/2 - 2 years total. Additionally, I am a 15 year old female. Firstly, I was told that I will need multiple bands in the future, and I have no clue what to expect. I know that I will be pretty self conscious for a while, but I was also wondering about other things. What is the average time that most people have them on? Can the bands be clear? Do I take them off when eating, and how many times do I change them? Additionally, any more information would be appreciated. Secondly, I am concerned about white or yellow spots on my teeth after they are removed. For the first 4 months or so after having them on, I didn\'t take as good of care of them as I needed to (only brushed once or twice a day and used mouthwash). Although, for the last 5 months this is has been my routine: Morning: Brush teeth thoroughly and use a fluoride mouthwash for 1 min. I don\'t eat/drink for at least 30 min afterwards so the fluoride can have time to sit on my teeth. Night: Brush thoroughly and afterwards use a small cone brush thing to brush up close to the brackets. Then I floss thoroughly and rinse with fluoride mouthwash for 1 min and do not eat/drink until the next day. I almost always drink water (I have a cup of coffee 3-5 times a week) I do admit that maybe once or twice a month I miss brushing at night out of laziness, but it is not a habit. I also eat a lot of sweets, but do rinse my mouth with water. Will I have white/yellow spots? And if so, can these (and if so, how can they) be removed? Please and thank you!
