When Do You Get Colors With Braces?

When you first go to the orthodontist to have your braces put on, the first thing they will do is clean your teeth with pumis (special polish). The polish will feel like sand as it will make sure your teeth are clean from anything.  Then the brackets (braces) will be put on each tooth. When all the braces are on, the wire comes next. The wire does all the moving of your teeth. In order for the wire to stay on the bracket is where the color elastics come in place. The elastic on each bracket will hold the wire in place. Sometimes we cannot put an elastic on the bracket when there are teeth or tooth that is very crooked, so we use a metal tie to hold the wire onto the braces. It is stronger and will help move the teeth into the right position. We can also put an elastic over the wire tie to match the rest of your teeth. Your elastic will get change at every appointment and sometimes the wire will be change too.  Good luck and pick some awesome colors.
