Why has one of my bottom teeth moved after braces?
I had braces for 2 & 1/2 years and I\'ve had them off since I was 14. I\'m almost 21 and I noticed that one of my front bottom teeth has moved slightly. When I first got my braces off I wore my retainer everyday for several months as instructed. Ever since I\'ve been wearing it almost every night as I was told. How is it possible for my bottom tooth to have shifted after almost 7 years of having my braces off and wearing a retainer?

If you have had your braces off for 7 years and are still wearing the same original retainer, your retainer may be stretched out and ill fitting. If the retainer fits properly and you are wearing it everynight as you mentioned, your teeth wouldn't be shifting. Schedule an appointment with your general dentist or orthodontist if you still live close, to have a new retainer fabricated. This will ensure that no more shifting will take place and they may be able to move the misaligned tooth back into position.
