When getting ready to put your braces on it does not hurt at all.  The braces (bracket) are only and anchor on your teeth so the wire can stay in place. The wire is held with elastics or metal ties. We do not numb your mouth at all for any of these procedures.  Just want to let you know that the wire does all the moving of your teeth, so initially when you get your braces on with the wire, your teeth or tooth may be sore after a couple of hours of them getting it on. Due to the wire moving your teeth or tooth. Also your tooth or teeth may feel loose due to wire moving your teeth or tooth. The discomfort does not last long as when the teeth or tooth is moved the discomfort gets less and less. Every orthodontist has different ways of putting on the braces and the whole procedure is not painful at all. Like I said once you have them on, the teeth may get sore later, which means your teeth are moving.   Good Luck
