Will Not Wearing Braces Rubberbands For An Hour Affect My Treatment?

I am getting annoyed by my rubberbands...if i take them off for an hour will that affect me?  I have these "Hannibal lectures"....some call it...to pull my teeth together....they are making me sore and i feel so embarrassed to walk out because it looks like i have a caged mouth because they made me put triangles and boxes on these hooks that they put on my braces...they said its called "Hannibal lectures"

Answer: yes not wearing your rubber bands will affect your treatment

By

Wearing elastics during Orthodontic Treatment is completely normal and almost every patient has to wear some type of elastics during their treatment. Even though wearing certain elastics can be annoying and embarrassing they are very important to wear 24/7 and change 3-4 times a day during your treatment. If you are not 100% committed to wearing your elastics you will not finish your Orthodontic Treatment on time! Even if you just remove your elastics for an hour your teeth can quickly move back to what they were before the elastics, therefore defeating your purpose of wearing them at all. During elastic wear your teeth have a tendency to be sore and this is completely normal this means your elastics are doing their job and moving your teeth. Next time you want to remove your elastics  just remember that you have come thus far in your treatment to get beautiful teeth and its just right around the corner. The more cooperative you are to wearing your elastics the faster you will get out of your braces.
