Dental Estimate is incorrect

I have an appointment for 6 dental crowns on Monday. The estimate they gave me say \'veneers\' on the bill. This particular office charges more for veneers than they do crowns. Price for a veneer 1500, price for a crown 1285. I feel like I am being taken advantage of. The front desk girl specifically said the crowns were cheaper (on my first visit, before we decided what was needed). When I asked the dentist why it said veneers on the estimate she made it sound like veneers/crowns are the same thing (which I know is not true). I believe her exact word was it is a \'veneered crown\'. I am going to speak with them about my concerns, but I am worried that if I cannot trust them to bill me correctly, can I trust them to do such extensive work? Also, since my appointment is tomorrow, will I get charged if I decide to cancel? I am new to this dentist so I do not have alot of background information. Please advise.

Answer: Incorrect dental estimates

I understand why you are feeling misled. If the front desk quoted you $1500 for veneers and $1285 for crowns, and you decided to go with crowns, the price should be reflected. It may have just been input wrong or a miscommunication from the dentist to the staff.  I would definitely address the issue prior to being taken into the dental operatory for treatment.  All finances should be handled prior to committing to the treatment.  As far as a cancellation fee, that is independent of each office and usually depends on the amount of notice you give prior to the appointment as well as the amount of time the dentist has set aside for you.  Being that you are having 6 crowns prepared, I'm sure several hours have been blocked for your appointment, so it is best to show up for your appointment but have your concerns and financial arrangements complete prior to being seen by the dentist. It is suggested to arrive 15-20 min ahead of time to handle this, so you do not run into your treatment time.  I'm sure the dentist and staff value you as a patient and will be happy to answer all of your questions and ease your mind.
