Use of dental floss picks on crowned teeth?
can using a dental floss pick loosen the crown on a molar? I am concerned that the floss on the picks seems thicker than regular dental floss and could raise the crown up where bacteria can get under it.

Answer: A pick should not loosen a crown

The only way a crown may become loose, is usually a poor fit. Food and liquid gets underneath the crown and may loosen. When it comes to cleaning the surrounding area of the tooth with a crown, it should not be any problem. If you feel that the crown is loose, go and see the dentist immediatly as they will remove it, clean it, and recement back onto the tooth. As we get older, our gums sometimes starts to receede, and that sometimes can loosen the crown as well. But if its a good fit, nothing should happen. Keep cleaning it with the dental floss pick as it will help to keep the tooth and gum in good shape. Good Luck
