Am I healing well?

Hi, I got my first molar pulled on tuesday at 13.15pm but the bleeding didn't stop until 8pm that night. It's now 18.11pm here, I'm not in any pain but the swelling is really bad and I'm struggling to speak which I expected. I am so terrified of getting dry socket (too much time on google) does my mouth look like it's healing well? Can I start speaking normally now? I feel like when I speak my cheek sucks the area and when I swallow as well. I haven't eaten anything since having it out only shakes..I've been salt water rinsing since last night. Sorry for rambling the only question really is does this look like it's recovering well and can I eat and speak without fear of dry socket now?

Answer: Healing after an extraction

Healing takes time, continue to rinse with warm salt water several times a day.  Ice can help prevent and reduce swelling.  Cold gel or ice packs on the outside of the cheek placed in 15 minute cycles is best.  Take any prescription medications as recommended.  Usually after 72 hours, you are in the clear of getting a dry socket.  You should be able to eat soft foods.   Foods that are high in protein are most beneifical to help your body heal.  If you body is malnourished, it will take longer to heal.  You should be able to speak normal, your tongue and cheek will adapt to the new space in time.  Replacing the tooth is important and will prevent your other teeth from shifting into the open position.
