Extraction after appliance removed.

My daughter has a dental appliance on the bottom of her mouth. One of her baby teeth has not come out and the tooth underneath is crooked. They want to extract the tooth at the next appt. in which they will also removed the appliance. I want to know if the tooth will come out on its own after the appliance is removed.

Good news is if they remove the baby tooth that is still there and the permanent tooth is trying to come in. Yes, it should come in on its own if it hasn't already begun too. By leaving the primary tooth in and not having it extracted this can cause more issues later on and will be harder for the permanent one to come in properly. There is no need to keep the appliance if all the baby teeth are out and the permanent one is in or coming in. They may have kept it in to hold the space for all the teeth to erupt properly and keep space for the permanent teeth. The primary tooth may not be coming out on its own because the roots may not shrinking on one side allowing it to be blocked in there. It is a good idea to have it removed if she has not be able to get it out on her own so far. IF you choose not to have it removed and the appliance removed only. Keep in mind things could shift again making it more difficult for that permanent one to come in later on.
