I have very bad Periodontal disease

I have Metlife insurace and Gateway Dental. I was told that the only way I can get Implants, if it is deemed a medically nessesity. I suffer from depression and Hydrocephalus, anxeity and ptsd. would i be a canadite for implants instead of dentures. Im 31 soon to be 32..and haveing to wear dentures will only make me feel bad and i will not want to smile due to the amount of gums that are on dentures compared to implants. My gums are badly infected and my teeth are very lose and i have many chipped teeth. Any advice will be greatly appreciated..thanks

I understand your concerns.  I advise you to have at least 2 consultations.  Prior to recommending dental implants, a dentist me see the condition of your remaining bone.  Dental implants are supported by the remaining bone and cannot be placed without adequate amount to stabilize the implant.  Unfortunately, dental implants are placed surgically and must integrate for 3-6 months prior to being restored.  During this time, you will need to have a healing denture in place.  Once they are healed, the restorative process begins.  There are implant supported dentures as well as hybrid restorations that look and feel natural.  A hybrid restoration has minimal appearance of "tissue" and locks into place on the dental implants.   Many surgeons are prepared to work with patients that have dental fears and anxiety.  The first step is to schedule a consultation, find a doctor you feel comfortable with and understands your fears and expectations.  Next schedule for the extractions, as bad as the teeth are you are describing, you need to ge the infections out of your body as soon as possible.  You will begine to feel so much better without the infection and will be soon on your way to the smile you long for and the confidence it will bring.
