Loose adult tooth after tooth extraction and braces - 6 years!

About 6 years ago I had my milk tooth extracted to pull the adult one out as it wouldn't do that on its own. The process was removing the milk tooth completely and attaching a chain from the adult tooth inside my gum to the already grown adult tooth next to it, all attached with braces, to slowly pull out and position the new coming adult tooth. This process took me as long as til now, due to bad orthontistry, my new orthodontist had a lot to correct! Anyway because I moved somewhere very different I had real issues seeing an orthodontist to take out my braces as they were due. My new adult tooth was there and my teeth were straight and they were ready to face the world alone. But nobody would see me so I took them out myself. That went fine and isn't my issue. My issue is that the tooth that supported the pulling of the outcoming adult tooth has become very loose. Is this something to worry about or do I just need to give it more time? Bare in mind the time and stress this tooth has already gone trough... When I feel my gum I think I can feel that the bone of the loose tooth is a good length, although it's quite difficult to determine because of the sort of scar that my gum has got now from thw chain procedure.

Answer: Loose adult tooth

Unfortunately, due to the unsupervised care you received and removing the braces on your own without retention after there could be damage to the tooth.  You need to see a dentist as soon as possible to see if the bone surrounding the tooth is solid or if the bone loss is significant and the tooth is at risk of extraction. There is a ligament around each tooth that allows for a small amount of movement for your tooth, however it should not be noticeable.  It sounds like you may have had more bone loss around that tooth that needs attention immediately.
