Pain when I push on my gums
I had an implant put in over a year ago and when I push on my gums where it is, it hurts slightly.

There could be a few things causing soreness around an implant. It is always best to schedule a follow up visit with the surgeon that placed the implant to be sure. Sometimes, when there is an implant placed with a bone graft the soreness can simply be from the newly placed bone. It could also be the tissue s surrounding the implant if the final restoration, crown, is impinging upon the tissue or not allowing enough space to properly clean around the titanium implant itself. Lastly, there is always a chance there could be the start of an infection surrounding the implant that could be creating pocketing, trapping food and bacteria. I suggest floss, good oral hygiene and salt water rinses until you can get in for a follow up visit and radiograph. In any case it is great that you are aware of the soreness and being proactive in taking care of the situation before it is unrestorable.
