Answer: Really bad pain in tooth

Sorry you are experiencing such horrible pain. First, no dentist should work on a tooth or diagnose a problem without a proper radiograph. You need to seek a second opinion and have an X-ray taken of the tooth most recently worked on. It sounds like the filling may be very deep and if it is not into the nerve, it definitely insulted it. This may or may not be reversible. If it is not, a root canal may be required. Usually when pain from a tooth is not relieved with over the counter medications, it can indicate nerve involvement or infection. Do not wait to seek a second opinion as you want to catch this before the problem gets bigger and be out of pain.  Make sure a radiograph is taken and in view when your tooth is being diagnosed and treated.
