Should I get my premolars removed for protrusion?
July 26th, I will be one year into fastbraces and I will be getting my braces off in August. I’m not happy at all with my teeth right now. My dentist refuses to get my premolars extracted, but I feel strongly that I need to get them out so my protruding teeth will be able to move back and blend in with the others. I have been wearing rubber-bands 24/7 and there is still not much difference at all. I have springs between my bottom teeth to close the gap that the dentist filed to make more space for my teeth to move. It’s difficult to close my lips around my teeth, and once they’re closed, it’s hard to keep them closed and just breathe through my nose. My mouth feels very full, and looks very full. I hate the way my side profile looks, because my bottom lip looks way fuller than my top lip, and it sticks out. My dentist said that she will not remove my premolars (2 on top and 2 on bottom) because of problems later on in life that will possibly happen. I feel like I should be seeing the finishing product by now, since it’s only 2 more months till I get my braces off, so I’m worried about what they will turn out like. What do you think? Your advice would be greatly appreciated. :)
