Bad Pain In Gums and Gets Numb
Hi my name is Brianna I'm 13 and for about a year now I have been getting this really bad pain in my gums and sometimes it completely gets numb and my cheeks get this really bad pain I've been trying to find a dentist, but all the dentist in my area either won't accept my medicaid plan or take forever to get an appointment. I also grind my teeth in my sleep is this what causes the pain? Its really really painful sometimes it keeps me up at night

Seeing how you are 13 it could be a few things. If you got your teeth late you may not have your 12 year molars yet. If you have them it could be your wisdom teeth pushing early also. If this is the case it can just be your teeth erupting causing the discomfort and pain. If it is consent or even comes only sometimes this may be the issue. Try taking tylenol or advil to see if that helps with the pain. The signs that you explained sounds as if this may be it. It causes your gums to get puffy and sometimes your ears and cheeks hurt as well. There is not a whole lot you can do. Unless that is your wisdom teeth your dentist may have you get them removed early if needed. The grinding of your teeth can cause some of these symptoms also. I would try In the meantime if you can't get to dentist yet get a mouth gaurd. You can find some in your local health store that are just for night time grinding of teeth. Wear this to bed and see if this helps anything you are goimg through. If you find it helps explain to your dentist you think that is what is causing this. They may have you just wear the mouth gaurd you have it they may make one that is formed just for your teeth. Make sure when you do go to the dentist they take any dental xrays needed to rule out if you may also have a cavity or any infection. Good luck! Hope the discomfort stops .

Even at the age of 13 you may have some molars erupting this could be the problem. If you have swelling or a pimple like bump in your gums that can mean infection of a tooth. Hopefully that is not the problem. You can look into free clinics or see if there is a clinic that specifically takes medicaid. The problem could as you know be from grinding as well. You can go to the drugstore or walmart and the carry mouth guards you can wear at night just for grinding. If they do not have those try even a sports guard and cut it to fit your upper jaw. Wear this at night to see if it helps the problem. Try this first they are inexpensive and may help your issue until you are able to be seen by the regualr dentist to eliminate any other dental issues.
