Ingrowing gum tooth

Hi, I'm a 15 year old girl that is very self conscious about her teeth. I am that self confident I can't even properly look at my boyfriend and feel like most people are looking at my teeth when talking to me:( it is really getting me down. I have recently visited the dentist and due to my teeth being so far forward I have to have braces, they have a 10mm space between the lower set. But before the Braces I need to have 2 fillings. It has took me about 2 years to be confident to come to the dentist due to my hatred towards my teeth, but I'm finally confident. But my main issue which I have is the ingrowing tooth that is still in the gum (which has been now for about 4 years) it is on the tooth set of my teeth.. It still has a baby tooth underneath it but you can see the tooth through the gum but it just won't come through! My dentist haven't said nothing to me about it though! But I am being transferred to a orthodontist after my fillings so I take it he will do something about it? But I really want to know what it is, it's just a big lump at the front of my mouth that is very noticeable when I talk. I hate it:( please give me some idea on what it is? Preferably without scaring me to much, because I'm still scared of the dentists. It would be fab if you could help me on giving me some sort of idea, Thankyou
