Ultrasonic Scaler For Use At Home?

If I purchase a Ultrasonic Scaler, can I use it at home instead of going to a Dentist? I do not have dental insurance and the Dentist wants over $1,000 to do a deep cleaning. I watched several videos online on how to use a Ultrasonic Scaler and the process looks very simple.

It is never a good idea to do any dental work or cleanings at your house. The ultrasonic scaler is not just a normal simple tool to use. Most dental suppliers will not allow you to even purchuse this instrument without being through a dental office. If you try to clean your teeth by yourself with one of these you can do serious damage to your teeth and also your gingiva. You have to use light pressure on the tooth and it is a sharp tool to begin with. There are several techniques as how to hold it and how to apply on your teeth. It may seem easy but never should be left up to you to do alone. A dentist or hygenist is trained in how to use this without ruining your teeth. You could cut your gums severly and en up with an infection. The dental professionals know a certain depth to clean to under your gums also. Going to deep is painful and can ruin the root of the tooth also. You may want to see why it is so much. Tpically if you have a deep cleaning done that means they will numb you up and clean uder the gingivia. If you are not numb it again can be extemely painful. The cost they quoted you is most likely cheaper then buying the tool by yourself even though you will probably not even to be able to without a dental license. So please, leave it up to the professionals.
