Wisdom tooth pain or something else?
About 5 months ago, my dentist put a temporary filling into a cavity he feared might need a root canal. He said that if my tooth began to hurt, it meant it was rejecting the medicine he put on it and that would mean I would need a root canal. But he never told me the length of time it could happen, like if it would be right after or a few months. I\'ve recently started to have really bad pains in my mouth on the side with that tooth. The pain is along both rows of teeth and gums on my left side. The pain goes all the way to my jaw and sometimes my ear. I\'ve suspected that it might be my wisdom teeth beginning to grow in, but I am not sure if it is from that or the tooth with the temporary filling. Any thoughts?

It is possible that the tooth that you had repaired, is acting up on you. Sometimes the pain can spread all over and you may think its from a different tooth. I am assuming it is not.
Go and see the dentist again and they will be able to tell right away now if the tooth needs a root canal now.
There is no set time for how long it would take if the medication worked or not.
