Is Upper Jaw Surgery Enough For Overbite?
I have my upper jaw in front which is an overbite. I want to get the surgery done to fix my overbite, but some doctors are saying only upper jaw surgery is not enough. i need to get lower jaw advancement too. I wanted to know what should be done and the best route to get my bite fixed via orthognathic surgery and braces.

In many cases double jaw surgery is required to correctly fix an overbite and underbite. However with the use of elastics you may be able to correct your overbite just enough to avoid the surgery. The surgery is not to be underestimated as it is a very major surgery and with an extensive recovery. We suggest you get several opinions from your local orthodontist before even considering the surgery. Many people live just fine an overbite and a good orthodontist can help you with braces along to get your bite "good enough" without the surgery.
If you do decide to go the surgery route, also get many opinions from oral surgeons.
